North Pontotoc had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Bruce on Monday. The Vikings' pitchers stepped up to hand the Trojans a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

North Pontotoc is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bruce, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-15.

Coming up, North Pontotoc will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Booneville at 7:00 p.m. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. Bruce does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
