South Florence and Hartsville are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Bruins will venture away from home to take on the Red Foxes at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Florence's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Hartsville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

South Florence managed to slip by West Florence the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bruins lost 11-1 to the Knights on Friday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bruins, who until this contest were averaging 3.79 runs allowed.

Meanwhile, Hartsville entered their tilt with Crestwood on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 18-0 win. The Red Foxes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Hartsville let Casey Hawkins and Web Barnes run wild. Hawkins went a perfect 1-for-1 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Barnes scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those six RBI gave Hawkins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Crawley, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Hartsville pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for South Florence, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.

South Florence couldn't quite get it done against Hartsville when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Bruins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
