Softball Game Preview: Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles vs. Gary West Side Cougars

The Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles will head out to square off against the Gary West Side Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Station Edison is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Lake Station Edison lost 28-17 to River Forest on Tuesday. Even if the Fighting Eagles couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Jean Marie Davis was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Harley Hileman, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double.

Meanwhile, Gary West Side earned a 12-8 win over Hammond Academy of Science & Tech last Monday.

Gary West Side's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Lake Station Edison, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.

Lake Station Edison couldn't quite get it done against Gary West Side when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 23-18. Can the Fighting Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
