Softball Game Preview: Deer Valley Skyhawks vs. Agua Fria Owls

The Deer Valley Skyhawks will venture away from home to challenge the Agua Fria Owls at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Deer Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Deer Valley came out on top against Peoria on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Skyhawks put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Skyhawks haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Deer Valley got a massive performance out of Leila Hermosillo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Avyanah Seely, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Deer Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peoria only posted an OBP of .263.

Meanwhile, Agua Fria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Thunderbird, falling 16-0.

Agua Fria's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Deer Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 19-5-1.

Everything went Deer Valley's way against Agua Fria in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Deer Valley made off with an 18-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Skyhawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
