Softball Recap: Whitesburg Christian Academy Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Whitesburg Christian Academy kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Lindsay Lane Christian Academy Lions by a score of 3-2.

Allie McGill spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Layni Pope was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brinkley Lang, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Coming up, Whitesburg Christian Academy will square off against Decatur at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lindsay Lane Christian Academy, they will challenge Clements at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lindsay Lane Christian Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Clements' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
