Basketball Recap: Jasiah Saunders' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sotomayor over Warren

Sotomayor was the 64-42 winner over Warren when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Sotomayor WILDCATS fell 59-49 to the Warren Warriors on Wednesday.

Sotomayor lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jasiah Saunders, who posted 19 points and five assists. His evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Roger Thomas was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

It was another big night for Devin Petersen, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards for Warren. Petersen is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Qwali Rose, who went 5 for 7 en route to 13 points and five steals.

Sotomayor's defeat dropped their record down to 17-13. As for Warren, they pushed their record up to 17-15 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Harlan the next time they take the court. Warren will host Harlan at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Sotomayor will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
