Preview: Autauga Academy Generals vs. Calvary Christian Knights
The Autauga Academy Generals have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Calvary Christian Knights at 12:30 p.m. on December 27th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Autauga Academy has not done well against Macon-East Montgomery Academy recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Autauga Academy managed a 49-45 win over Macon-East Montgomery Academy. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Autauga Academy has scored all year.
Meanwhile, even though Brookstone scored an imposing 70 points last Saturday, Calvary Christian still came out on top. Calvary Christian pulled ahead with a 71-70 photo finish over Brookstone. The win made it back-to-back wins for Calvary Christian.
Calvary Christian found their leader in underclassman Tj Benson, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten assists. The match was Benson's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Walls, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 21 rebounds.
Autauga Academy pushed their record up to 3-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Calvary Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
