Baseball Recap: Dawson School Has No Trouble Against Clear Creek

After only two runs in their last contest, Dawson School made sure to put some runs up on the board against Clear Creek on Thursday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Golddiggers with a sharp 13-4 victory. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Golddiggers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Dawson Kusel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Julian Sutton was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shelton Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Dawson School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Dawson School now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Clear Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
