Basketball Game Preview: Sylmar Spartans vs. Van Nuys Wolves

The Sylmar Spartans will take on the Van Nuys Wolves in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sylmar has given up an average of 72.3 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sylmar came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were outmatched by Calabasas and fell 79-43. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 845th, while the Coyotes are ranked 338th).

Sylmar's defeat came about despite a quality game from Aaron Rollins, who posted 12 points. Thanks to that strong game, Rollins now owns an excellent 50% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Andrew Galvez, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Van Nuys lost to East Valley on the road by a 46-31 margin on Monday. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sylmar's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Van Nuys, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
