Baseball Game Preview: Newton-Conover Red Devils vs. Hickory Red Tornadoes

Newton-Conover is 0-10 against Hickory since April of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Red Devils will face off against the Red Tornadoes at 6:30 p.m. Newton-Conover's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Hickory's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Newton-Conover took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Everything went their way against Foard as they made off with a 9-3 victory.

Meanwhile, Hickory came tearing into Monday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 10-5.

Newton-Conover's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Hickory, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
