Baseball Recap: Palmyra Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

On Tuesday Palmyra's undefeated season almost came to an end. They never let the Bishop McDevitt Crusaders get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-5 back in March.

The result came thanks to Jonathan Strohecker's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Palmyra's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nate Osteen, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Palmyra pushed their record up to 14-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Bishop McDevitt, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmyra will venture away from home to face off against Carlisle at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bishop McDevitt, they will head out to square off against Trinity at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Shamrocks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
