Basketball Recap: Clear Creek Comes Up Short

Clear Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the SkyView Academy Hawks and fell 66-19. If the Golddiggers were looking for revenge after losing 45-15 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Clear Creek still got an impressive performance from Elizabeth Rooney, who posted ten points and four steals. That's the most steals Rooney has posted since back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead SkyView Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lydia Slocum, who went 9-for-17 on her way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Slocum has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ellie McLaughlin, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine assists.

Clear Creek's loss dropped their record down to 0-18. As for SkyView Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.

Coming up, Clear Creek will welcome Lyons at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for SkyView Academy, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Hawks challenge the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dayspring Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
