Preview: Bellevue Broncos vs. Maple Valley Lions
Bellevue is 6-1 against Maple Valley since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Bellevue Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Maple Valley Lions at 7:00 p.m. Bellevue is looking to tack on another W to their 11-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Friday, it was close, but Bellevue sidestepped Mendon for a 54-52 victory. Given Bellevue's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Mendon is ranked 385th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Maple Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. The matchup between Maple Valley and Concord wasn't particularly close, with Maple Valley falling 55-39. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Maple Valley has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Maple Valley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ayden Wilkes , who scored 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. The matchup was Wilkes 's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Callen Hoefler, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Bellevue's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Maple Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-1.
Everything came up roses for Bellevue against Maple Valley when the teams last played back in February as the squad secured a 76-45 victory. Will Bellevue repeat their success, or does Maple Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
