Volleyball Recap: Cypress Lake Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cypress Lake can now relate to. They lost 3-0 to the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls on Monday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Cypress Lake was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-22, 25-21.

Avery Gulatta paced Cypress Lake's offense, picking up eight kills. Gulatta got some help from Lilly Witz and her 12 assists. Finally, Brigitte Maillakakis kept Cypress Lake's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Cypress Lake's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for LaBelle, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-16.

Cypress Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for LaBelle, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Estero on the 14th.
