Baseball Recap: Osage Comes Up Short

Osage fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Dixon on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 9-8. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Chris Nicholson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tanner Willoughby was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Landon Strickler also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Osage has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season. As for Dixon, they pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Osage will face off against Laquey at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dixon, they will challenge Vienna at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
