Basketball Recap: Karson Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Anna over Forney

Anna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Forney Jackrabbits. The Coyotes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jackrabbits apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Anna lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Karson Jones, who posted 15 points in addition to eight assists and five boards. Jones' morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamin Foon, who went 6 for 7 on his way to 13 points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Anna smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Anna's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Forney, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.

Anna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 74-70 victory against Sherman on the 3rd. As for Forney, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Tyler Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th.
