Baseball Recap: Orange Beach Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Orange Beach ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted past the Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils 2-1.

Bryce McCollum looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low.

At the plate, Orange Beach saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Rogers, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Orange Beach is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Mortimer Jordan and nudges their season record down to 11-12.

Coming up, Orange Beach will look to defend their home field on Monday against Jasper at 4:30 p.m. As for Mortimer Jordan, they will take on Har-Ber in a tournament on Monday.
