Volleyball Game Preview: Harker Eagles vs. Homestead Mustangs

The Harker Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Homestead Mustangs at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Homestead took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Harker, who comes in off a win.

Harker had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Cupertino on Monday. The Eagles blew past the Pioneers 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won six in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-20, 25-15.

Homestead had taken Monta Vista down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Mustangs took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Matadors. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Homestead was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Monta Vista work for it, especially in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 21-25, 25-22, 26-24.

Harker pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Homestead, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.

Harker beat Homestead 3-1 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
