Basketball Recap: Mya Naylor's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hurricane over Desert Hills

Hurricane came up into this matchup off a tough 28-point loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Desert Hills Thunder by a score of 60-58 on Friday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-33 last Tuesday.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mya Naylor, who went 8 of 16 en route to 19 points along with six boards and three steals. What's more, Naylor also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Hallee Wardle was another key player, going 5 for 9 on her way to 16 points and eight rebounds.

Hurricane is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17. As for Desert Hills, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Hurricane has already played their next game, a 58-46 win against Crimson Cliffs on the 4th. As for Desert Hills, they will face off against Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Dixie likes a good challenge.
