Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Riverbend

While Riverbend didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Mountain View Wildcats by a score of 63-55 on Tuesday. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Wildcats are ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mountain View lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Mason Jackson, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 20 points. Jackson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Konetschni, who went 7 for 17 on his way to 18 points.

The victory (which was Riverbend's third in a row) raised their record to 5-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Mountain View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Riverbend has already played their next game, a 50-25 win against North Stafford on the 19th. As for Mountain View, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-31 defeat against Colonial Forge on the 19th.
