Baseball Recap: Milburn Drops Season-High Score on Calvin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Milburn). Everything went their way against the Calvin Bulldogs on Thursday as they made off with a 21-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Tayler Pollard was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Milburn: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, Cade Mcbride was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Milburn is undefeated when Mcbride posts two or more runs, but 2-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Wingo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple.

Milburn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Milburn's victory bumped their record up to 6-13.

As of now, neither they nor Calvin have any future games scheduled.
