Eureka falls despite strong effort from Makai Dennon

The Eureka Loggers were the 66-55 winner over the McKinleyville Panthers when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Eureka took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of McKinleyville on Tuesday. Eureka has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Eureka lost, one person who can't be blamed is Makai Dennon. Despite the final result, he scored seven points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Goodman, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.

Eureka's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for McKinleyville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Eureka will head out on the road to square off against St. Bernard's at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for McKinleyville, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Del Norte at 7:30 p.m. Del Norte will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 842nd, while McKinleyville is ranked 302nd).
