Softball Recap: Jesuit Crusaders vs. Sunset Apollos

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Jesuit and Sunset meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Crusaders fell just short of the Apollos by a score of 8-7. The Crusaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Apollos earlier this season, when they won 6-2.

Dulcie Cleeland made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Olivia Hildreth, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Jesuit's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Sunset, they pushed their record up to 17-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Jesuit will square off against rival Westview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Sunset is set to challenge their familiar foe Mountainside at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Apollos 2.8, the Mavericks 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
