Basketball Game Preview: Ralston Valley Mustangs vs. Valor Christian Eagles

Ralston Valley and Valor Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Ralston Valley Mustangs will challenge the Valor Christian Eagles on Saturday. Ralston Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 25 matches -- so hopefully Valor Christian likes a good challenge.

Ralston Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 79-72 win over Denver South.

Ralston Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samson Wright, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave Wright a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Braketa, who shot 64% from the field on his way to 21 points and six assists.

Ralston Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. They racked up nine more assists than Denver South's also-impressive total of 15.

Meanwhile, Valor Christian came tearing into Tuesday's game with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 70-48 margin over the Warriors. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 22 points or more this season.

Ralston Valley pushed their record up to 23-2 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.1 points over those games. As for Valor Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 21-4.

Ralston Valley couldn't quite finish off Valor Christian in their previous meeting back in February and fell 60-57. Can Ralston Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
