Basketball Recap: Hermann Comes Up Short

Hermann was the 55-47 winner over Rolla when they last played one another back in December of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Hermann Bearcats took a blow against the Rolla Bulldogs on Friday, falling 62-31. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 30th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rolla to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mariah Watkins, who went 10 for 17 on her way to 22 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Akaela Caquelin, who went 6 of 10 en route to 17 points in addition to seven assists and six boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Hermann and nudges their season record down to 10-7. As for Rolla, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.

Hermann will challenge Sullivan at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Rolla, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Camdenton at 5:30 p.m.
