Softball Recap: Springfield Catholic Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

After losing to Sparta the last time they met, Springfield Catholic decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Fighting Irish were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Trojans on Friday. Considering the Fighting Irish have won four matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Springfield Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Sparta, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Springfield Catholic and Sparta will both be playing Clever the next time they take the field. The Fighting Irish will head out to face the Blue Jays on Friday, while the Trojans will head out to face them on Saturday.
