Softball Recap: Littlefield Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Dimmitt last Wednesday, Littlefield came back down to earth. The Littlefield Wildcats lost 14-2 to the Shallowater Mustangs on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since April 24, 2024.

Natalia Sanchez put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

In other batting news, Alyssa Torres made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Littlefield's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Shallowater, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

While Littlefield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
