Baseball Recap: Wheatland Triumphs

Wheatland proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 12) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Colfax Falcons. The Pirates have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

Wheatland let Hughston Rodney and Kale Nakamura run wild. Rodney scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Nakamura scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Rodney a new career-high.

Wheatland's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Colfax, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-5 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Falcons beat Wheatland by a score of 5-3 on Friday.
