Baseball Recap: Reedley Comes Up Short

Reedley had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 10-11 to make it five. They fell 9-6 to the Washington Union Panthers. If the Pirates were looking for revenge after losing 5-2 to the Panthers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Alex Rodriguez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Eli Jarrett was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

As for Washington Union, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

On Washington Union's side, the team relied heavily on Trey Morris, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI Morris has posted since back in March.

While Reedley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
