Basketball Recap: Seymour Comes Up Short

Seymour and Floyd Central squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Seymour had to settle for second. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 33-32 to the Floyd Central Highlanders. The game marked the Owls' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Floyd Central found their leader in sophomore Landon Reed, who shot 56% from the field en route to 14 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Reed has scored at least a third of Floyd Central's points. Another player making a difference was Carter Mcquigg, who posted eight points.

With the defeat, Seymour broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points over those games. As for Floyd Central, they moved to 5-18 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Seymour does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Floyd Central, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-54 loss against New Albany on the 7th.
