Football Game Preview: Cahokia Comanches vs. Centralia Orphans + How To Watch

The Cahokia Comanches will face off against the Centralia Orphans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Centralia will be up against a hot Cahokia team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Comanches put the hurt on Mt. Vernon with a sharp 42-18 win on Friday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 22-0.

Nigel Gooden produced another solid performance throwing for 196 yards and a pair of TDs on only 18 passes, while also rushing for 38 yards and one score. Cahokia also got a significant boost from Machai Henderson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cahokia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 191 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cahokia's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Malik Mazyun, Machail Henderson, and Zehki McCuller, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Mt. Vernon's side was Mazyun, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 13 total tackles.

Meanwhile, Centralia hadn't done well against Marion recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Orphans blew past the Wildcats, posting a 55-28 victory. The Orphans haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Cahokia's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Centralia, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-1.

Cahokia beat Centralia 28-17 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Do the Comanches have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Orphans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
