Football Recap: Mcclintock Skates Past Ironwood with Ease

McClintock entered their tilt with Ironwood on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 66-12 win over the Eagles. That's more bragging rights for the Chargers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading McClintock to victory were Fredrick 'CP' Parsons and Aidan Whitaker. Parsons rushed for 157 yards and three TDs on only nine carries, while Whitaker gained 327 total yards and a touchdown. Parsons is becoming a predictor of the Chargers' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). McClintock also got help from Hayden Bajet, who showed off his sure hands for 129 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: McClintock was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 290 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 167 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.

McClintock didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jeremiah Paet and Preston Molina. Paet is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last three games he's played. Daniel Fuentes was another major factor on D, making 12 total tackles (6.0 for loss).

Despite the loss, Ironwood had strong showings from Ramsey Pyne, who gained 46 total yards and two touchdowns, and Gianni Garcia, who rushed for 137 yards. Garcia showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 53 yards.

The victory got McClintock back to even at 4-4. As for Ironwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. McClintock is set to challenge their familiar foe Dobson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,034 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Ironwood will face off against rival Goldwater at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
