Basketball Recap: Tulare Union's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Tulare Union put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They managed a 75-69 win over the Sunnyside Wildcats. Given the The Tribe's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Wildcats are ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tulare Union got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brayden Stevenson out in front who went 11 of 27 on his way to 32 points and eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Stevenson has scored at least a third of Tulare Union's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Demaje Riley, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Sunnyside lost, don't look at Malachi Barnes. Despite the final result, he posted 26 points. The game was Barnes' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tanner Wilson, who put up 15 points.

Tulare Union's record now sits at 6-0. As for Sunnyside, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Tulare Union didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-54 win against Redwood on the 13th. As for Sunnyside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-42 victory against Selma on the 13th.
