Softball Game Preview: Hornell Red Raiders vs. Haverling Rams

Hornell hasn't had much luck against Haverling recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Red Raiders will venture away from home to challenge the Rams at 4:30 p.m. Hornell has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Monday, Hornell came up short against Letchworth and fell 12-9.

Meanwhile, Haverling had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Monday. They never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Haverling's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Hornell, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Hornell suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Haverling when the teams last played back in April. Can the Red Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
