Basketball Recap: Aspen Falls to Cedaredge in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Aspen had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were beaten by the Cedaredge Bruins 49-6 on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Aspen used a three-pronged attack on offense: Eliza Pfeiffer, Kelli Campbell, and Avey O'Doherty posted two points each. Celia VerHey held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Cedaredge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sammy Denison out in front who posted 11 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Denison a new career-high. Lydia Tietz was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Looking ahead, Aspen will venture away from home to challenge Moffat County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cedaredge, they will take on Vail Mountain in a tournament on Friday.
