Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is High Plains' 11th in Last 13 Outings

High Plains proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 51) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-45 victory over the Meridian Mustangs. For the Storm, this counts as revenge for the 64-44 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead High Plains to victory, but perhaps none more so than Peyton Hofmann, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Hofmann has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Courtney Carlstrom was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven boards.

Despite the loss, Meridian still got an impressive performance from Jaylee Sobotka, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 44.4% of Meridian's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

High Plains is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Meridian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

High Plains will welcome East Butler at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. High Plains is facing East Butler at the right time seeing as East Butler is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Meridian, they will venture away from home to challenge Osceola at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Osceola has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
