Basketball Game Preview: Midland Adventist Academy Mustangs vs. Independence Home School Lions

Having just played yesterday, the Midland Adventist Academy Mustangs will get right back to it and host the Independence Home School Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Midland Adventist Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

On Monday, Midland Adventist Academy strolled past St. Vincent de Paul Academy with points to spare, taking the game 54-37. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 64th in Kansas, while the Hawks are ranked 415th in Missouri), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Midland Adventist Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiden Cowan led the charge by going 11 of 20 en route to 22 points in addition to five assists and three steals. With that strong performance, Cowan is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Jordan Owolabi, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards.

Meanwhile, Independence Home School was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 47-41 to Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri.

Midland Adventist Academy will need focus on slowing down Sam Egger, one of several Independence Home School players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 20 points. The dominant performance gave Egger a new career-high in points. Joe Young was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Midland Adventist Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Independence Home School, they dropped their record down to 7-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
