Baseball Preview: Brentwood School Eagles vs. Campbell Hall Vikings

Brentwood School and Campbell Hall are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Vikings at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Brentwood School took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They skirted past de Toledo 2-1.

Sam Russakoff looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Brentwood School is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 9-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Brentwood School's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jack Kaplan, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Campbell Hall). They won by a run and slipped past Windward 10-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Campbell Hall also got a great performance from Kyle Weaver as he pitched 7.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, Weaver posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Jonah Smiedt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Fowler, who went 4-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Campbell Hall kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win got Brentwood School back to even at 12-12. As for Campbell Hall, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-12.
