            Softball Recap: South Johnston Trojans vs. West Carteret Patriots        
        
		
        
        
            South Johnston had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  1-0  win over the West Carteret Patriots  on Friday. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Trojans have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
The result came thanks to  Ava Strickland's shutout, as she gave up just seven  hits and racked up 12 Ks.
 On the hitting side,  Lannah Price was  excellent,  going 2-for-4 with one  home run.

South Johnston's victory was  their 13th straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 21-1. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for West Carteret, their loss dropped their record down to 19-5.
 Coming up, South Johnston will take on Richlands on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9  runs per game  this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. West Carteret does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
