Softball Game Preview: Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers vs. Weyauwega-Fremont Warhawks

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers will venture away from home to take on the Weyauwega-Fremont Warhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Bonduel just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Bears by a score of 8-7. Chargers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bears since on Monday.

Meanwhile, Weyauwega-Fremont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Iola-Scandinavia, falling 18-1.

Weyauwega-Fremont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ebbie Thoma-Loehrke, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Weyauwega-Fremont's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Wittenberg-Birnamwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood came out on top in a nail-biter against Weyauwega-Fremont when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
