Basketball Recap: Wakefield Drops Season-High Score on L'anse

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wakefield). They took down the L'Anse Purple Hornets 83-68 on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Cardinals with their most commanding win of the season.

Despite the loss, L'Anse saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sam Lee went 9 of 20 en route to 25 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The contest was Lee's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Keegan Davidson, who posted 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Wakefield moved to 3-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for L'Anse, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-4 record.

Wakefield will be playing in front of their home fans against Baraga at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Baraga is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season. As for L'Anse, they will head out to square off against Ewen-Trout Creek at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
