Basketball Game Preview: Notus Pirates vs. Riverstone International Otters

Notus is 2-8 against Riverstone International since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. Notus knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Riverstone International likes a good challenge.

Notus is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Vision, who was ranked ninth at the time (Notus was ranked second). The Pirates walked away with a 67-56 victory over Vision on Friday.

Notus relied on the efforts of Caleb Cudaback, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards, and Jonny Lungu, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 22 points and eight rebounds. Those 22 points gave Lungu a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Derrick Huter, who posted ten points and six assists.

Meanwhile, Riverstone International was beaten by Wendell 86-29 on Saturday.

Riverstone International now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Notus, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Notus took a serious blow against Riverstone International in their previous matchup back in February, falling 62-35. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
