Basketball Recap: Surry Central Falls Despite Big Games from Damen Hazelwood and Jax Whitaker

Surry Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. The contest between the Golden Eagles and the Community School of Davidson Spartans didn't end well, with the Golden Eagles falling 62-48. The game marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Surry Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jax Whitaker, who posted 16 points and four steals, and Damen Hazelwood, who shot 60% from the field on his way to 18 points. Thanks to that strong game, Hazelwood now owns an excellent 46.9% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Brayden Woodring, who earned six points.

Surry Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Community School of Davidson, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Surry Central will take on North Forsyth at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Community School of Davidson, they will square off against North Wilkes at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
