Volleyball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens lost against North Penn-Liberty back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Mountie by a score of 3-2.

Athens wouldn't go down easily and took North Penn-Liberty into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-13, 17-25, 17-25, 15-7.

When it comes to explaining why Athens lost, don't look at Ellie Mosher. Despite the final result, she had 14 kills, 13 digs, and two aces.

North Penn-Liberty found their leader in sophomore Maddie McNamara, who had ten digs and three aces. Those three aces set a new season-high mark for McNamara.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for North Penn-Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Athens wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 1-1 tie against Williamson on the 6th. As for North Penn-Liberty, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 1-1 tie against Lyons on the 6th.
