Baseball Game Preview: Chinle Wildcats vs. White Pine Bobcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Chinle Wildcats face off against White Pine Bobcats at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. White Pine took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Chinle, who comes in off a win.

Chinle was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Mohave Accelerated 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since March 1, 2024.

Chinle's victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Shane Jones, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Jones has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Duane Ayze, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Chinle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mohave Accelerated only posted a batting average of .250.

Meanwhile, White Pine came up short against Palo Verde Valley on Thursday and fell 6-1.

Maddox Sedlacek made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

White Pine's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Chinle, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
