Recap: Colton Yellowjackets vs. Arroyo Valley Hawks

The Colton Yellowjackets''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Arroyo Valley 30-26. The match was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but Colton was outscored by Arroyo Valley in the second.

Despite the defeat, Colton saw an underclassman step up: Koa Regalado threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Regalado was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards. Another player making a difference was Alex Juarez, who picked up 104 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Ronald Weathers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Arroyo Valley, rushing for 319 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and also picking up 64 receiving yards. Weathers is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played.

Arroyo Valley's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Mattathias Williams and his two sacks.

Colton's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Arroyo Valley, Bloomington, and San Gorgonio. As for Arroyo Valley, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colton will square off against Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Notre Dame is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Arroyo Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Fontana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fontana and Arroyo Valley are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
