Softball Recap: Potlatch Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Potlatch extended their winning streak to seven on Wednesday, bumping them up to 13-4. They were the clear victors by a 24-2 margin over the Lapwai Wildcats. Considering the Loggers have won 12 contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Reese Lusby made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Daycee Fry was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Kinsey VanDyke was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Potlatch hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 13 consecutive matchups.

As for Lapwai, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly 22 runs.

On Lapwai's side, Jeneieve Wilson was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Potlatch will take on Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.08 runs per game on average), something Potlatch will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lapwai, they will square off against Kendrick at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
