Softball Recap: Sheffield Triumphs

Sheffield's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Tanner Rattlers. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Rattlers: they've now won five in a row.

Eva Lopez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maya Gangar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Camora Craig, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Sheffield's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Tanner, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Sheffield will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rattlers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
