Baseball Preview: Arroyo Valley Hawks vs. Eisenhower Eagles
For the second straight game, Arroyo Valley will face off against Eisenhower. The Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Arroyo Valley comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Arroyo Valley took on Eisenhower on Tuesday. The Hawks took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.
For Eisenhower's part, Sebastian Alvarez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Joshua Aguilar and Daniel Mendez did most of the damage at the plate: Aguilar went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Mendez went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave Mendez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Issac Cervantes, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Eisenhower kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Arroyo Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Eisenhower, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-12.
