Softball Recap: Trinity Pioneers vs. Prospect Mountain Timberwolves
Trinity extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-4 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 14-4 to the Prospect Mountain Timberwolves, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Timberwolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 on Tuesday.
Sophia Romano made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
As for Prospect Mountain, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.
On Prospect Mountain's side, Alexis Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Wilson has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tori Christie was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-6. Kylie Guptill was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
